When interviewing a new candidate to join your championship team, it is important to ask the right questions and take your time finding the right match.

Here are the four things you should look for and the questions you should ask when conducting your interviews:

 

1. Understand the nature of work they have done. Get clear on the types of projects and the level of work they’ve done.

2. Understand what customer service means to them. This is especially important if top-notch service is one of your core values (it is one of mine)! Ask about turnaround times and the culture they’ve worked in. Ask about their likes/dislikes in their current or former place of work.

3. Ask about their personal productivity and growth. How do they manage their time? How do they get maximum efficiency and productivity? What are their strengths/weaknesses and pet peeves? Ask for examples of things they have done in the past to go the extra mile.

4. Career History and Going Forward. Ask where they have been and where they want to go.

 

Asking the RIGHT questions and doing due diligence is important to avoid losing time and money on the WRONG person (which can be expensive)!
